A dAy In St.A

I'm still in St. Anthony! I have watched 13 movies, played with Mason and Avery, went to Rexburg 6 times, taken my Dad lunch at the farm 4 times, painted my nails twice, talked on the phone for 3 hours, attended two birthday parties, made one family video (with Cortney), and played paper, rock, scissors countless times for various household chores. Needless to say, I have ran out of creative activities. ..Until today! My friend Brittney came all the way up to see me from Salt Lake and we made it a point to see every attraction St. Anthony has to offer. We have had so much fun and I had to post some of our adventures.

First we brought my Dad lunch and rode with him for an hour or so. Britt had never really seen the whole process of potato-ing, so it was interesting. My Dad was marking the potato rows and explained that to us. Then we rode with Colby who was planting seed. It was kind of shocking how far technology has come in farming! The days of the dirt and shovel are WAY over.

After we went to a birthday party (which I have no photographic proof of) we went to the sand dunes. We climb up the hills and then jumped. It was so much fun and we made some poor tourist who was shooting arrows at the hill (?) take our pictures. Bet you don't remember the last time you said "BFF!"

Then.... we went to my Dad's farm and climbed the potato pile. (I know... my Mom is outraged) apparently that "bruises" the potatoes. But still, it was a really great time! We wore flip flops and our feet were hurting so bad by the time we reached the top. Then, after concluding we had already hurt the potatoes, so what's a little more...we slid back down. It was so funny. I have not done that since I was a little girl. And let me tell you, you can get some speed! Our pants were filthy afterward though. And last but not least we went on a fourwheeler ride to the canyon. The rain was pelting our faces the whole way and we really smelt like rotten potatoes. Funny story about that top picture... right after it was snapped, Britt and I just kind of fell over. It was like slow motion, she just landed right on top of me. We laid there and laughed forever.

I am so grateful for good friends. They always help me to keep life in perspective. There really is no better feeling than laughing with a pal. Thanks so much for the great day, Britt. I love you!

P.S. I miss you Landon, we wish you were here!

Happy Birthday To Me

Well, my birthday came and went. I don't know why but I have always thought that my birthday was the biggest deal and have had such a hard time convincing everyone of the same thing! Every year I buy a "birthday dress" and strut around all day like a diva. However, this year things were a little different. Landon and I were leaving for our separate destinations (see former post:)) the day before my birthday and I kept telling myself that he was going to plan something super special for me before we left. However... one day went by and then the next and then the next and soon it was the day before we were leaving and he had not mentioned anything about it. You know when you want to hint something to your husband without straight up telling him that he is dropping the ball? I was all over that. Randomly throwing the date into otherwise normal conversation, mentioning that friends of mine had birthdays coming up, even shamelessly circling the date an obnoxious amount of times in our combined planner. As the hours went by that last day I was starting to feel a little neglected. Even took an emergency trip to "Ulta" and bought ridiculous amounts of makeup that I do not need or really even want to be honest. Landon came home from work at about 6 and said we were going over to his sister ShaLayne's to see everyone before we left. I am so proud to say that Landon really came through! He had picked me up a cake and gift and dropped them off at ShaLayne's earlier. I was so happy that he had remembered and it was alot of fun celebrating with the Stewart family because we do not get to see them very often. They sang a spectacular rendition of "happy birthday" and Landon insisted on lighting all 21 candles. He got me a gorgeous necklace that I have been wanting for a long time. Thanks to Maddie, Austin, Allie, Logan, ShaLayne and Di-izzle for the gifts, the song and sharing my cake! And thanks to Jeremy for sitting in the background watching "Ultimate Fighting":) I also celebrated my birthday in Idaho but I think I have rambled enough for one day. I will post about that later. Thanks to everyone who called or helped to celebrate on my birthday!

Modern Day Pioneers

Well...we are moving to Texas! We are going for the record of "Most times moved in first years of marriage" and I can't lie... we are fierce competitors. We are going to join Vision's office in San Antonio and are feeling both a little nervous and excited for this new journey. Landon is stoked because the population there is 2/3 spanish. As for me... well, I guess it's my duty to be the supportive wife. Landon is leaving from here on Saturday morning and will drive straight there with the rest of the guys in our office. He has a 19 hour drive. I am going to be driving home to Idaho this weekend for Colby's graduation and then flying there next weekend. I will let you know how the voyage goes!

The Beautiful People

So out of curiosity I uploaded my Dad's picture to 'Celebrity Morph' to see who he most resembles and who would know? It's super hot Josh Holloway! (However, the second closest was an old Mexican guy) But still.... check out the uncanny resemblance:) You're cute Dad.

Landon's Day Job

Sometimes I feel like when we are in Vegas selling we are in some strange little bubble. All of the salesmen (and their wives if applicable) live in one little row of apartments. Since I don't get cell phone service here, they all kind of become our own little adoptive family. These past few weeks have been strange for me. I went from being so busy with finals to literally wondering what I can do with myself to fill a couple of hours. Thus, creating this blog. For those of you who do not even know what we are doing here I thought I would fill in the holes. Last year Landon and I decided that we needed a change in scenery for awhile and so we moved to Vegas where Landon sold security systems door to door for Vision Security. We really tried it last summer just because it was a way out of our tiny apartment and stationary life in Provo. We really had no idea that Landon would have a natural talent for talking people into anything. (Well, I had an idea.) He ended up doing really well for a first year sales rep and so they offered him a managing position for this year. Since September Landon has been recruiting young guys to come and sale for his office. He and his co-manager recruited about thirty people but when we got down here we found out that Ryan, (Landon's co-manager) had to have a liver transplant and would not be able to come down anymore. That was super inconvenient for Landon but he has been a champ about dealing with the pressure. Our schedule is so different during the summer. Landon and I usually wake up at about ten and spend some time together before he has to go and conduct a training meeting with all of the guys at 12:30. The meeting usually ends at about 2 and off they all go! They usually sell until dark (around 8). So in the meantime I have about 8 and 1/2 hours to make myself feel useful. Call me crazy but I really love summer sales. I just think it's so much fun to live in the city with a bunch of other young couples. Call Landon even CRAZIER because he actually really loves this job too. He always feels so accomplished when he gets his sales for the day.

This picture is no joke. Landon always practices his sales pitch (they call it "role playing"). So every now and then I get to play the customer and try to tell Landon all the reasons that I do not need a security system. I always get frustrated when I play this role because he just jumps over my reasons like I didn't say anything. I'm sure it is much worse for the people really standing on the doorstep with him. I'm really proud of him though, he has managed to take something he had never heard of one year ago and become really amazing at it. Just warning you all though, lock your doors if you see him coming.

Mother's Day

So yesterday I spend Mother's Day watching the Jazz game with Landon and all of his friends and I kept thinking about how badly I would love to spend the day with my Mom. I thought about how many times I have sent her a card saying " I appreciate you" or "I love you". But those words just really don't explain how much I owe to my Mom. I know that I am not alone in this, I'm sure most of us feel this way. Yesterday I started thinking about some of my favorite things about my Mom and I thought I would share them. My Mom used to give the best baths and she always came to every school program, talent show, cheer event, band and choir concert or play. She always let me know that it was Ok to talk to her about anything and she really meant it. My Mom is an amazing example of strength. She has been through alot in her life and not only has she survived, but she has made herself better because of it. I have often thought that my Mom would have made an excellent nurse. When I was sick she always let me really milk it for all it was worth. She would rub my back and we would watch The Apple Dumpling Gang, or Pollyanna. My favorite memory of my family was bed time. I never went to bed without hugs and kisses and lots of "I love yous". I know these things sound small, but they are the very building blocks of who I am today and I am so grateful that I was born to loving parents who raised me in the gospel and stuck by me through thick and thin. I love you Mom and although the words don't say it well enough, I appreciate and love you.

I just could not post this without saying something about my Mother-in-law Dianne because she truly embodies an amazing mother and Landon adores her. I have talked with her about being a mom many times and she is such a great example. She always strived to keep a very sweet spirit in her home. I am so grateful to her for raising Landon in such a spiritual atmosphere. I know that her hard work will help benefit my family and my children's families. I love you Di-izzle!

Happy Mother's Day to Cortney, Grandmas and Aunts. Your examples are appreciated and I love you all so much.

Happiest Place on Earth

The whole family

My family is not big on trips. It seems everytime we take a trip together someone gets lit on fire, someone is throwing up, someone crashes some form of recreational vehicle and let's not get started on the outfits my Dad chooses to wear on vacations. However, a couple of weeks ago my family pulled off a trip to Disneyland without any stops to the emergency room and virtually no huge problems. But not only that... I had a great time too! Landon and I just drove to California and met Cortney and Neil and my Mom and Carlie. We went to Disneyland one day and California Adventure the next. Landon is the biggest fan of Disneyland I have ever met. (Besides my Uncle Lynn whom will never be passed in the "who loves Disneyland more" contest.) If you have not been there in the last couple of years I would highly reccomend it, it's just such a fun place to be. Possibly even the happiest place on earth!

Hello Dad? Wish you were here!
