Bar~B~Q

Hey y'all! Haven't written a new post in a while so I thought I would check in. Texas is going great. Landon is doing well selling but is having alot of trouble with people's credit scores. They have to have a 600 or above to qualify for the system and he is getting around 2 or 3 non-quals a day. He is pushing through it though and hopefully will reach his goal by August! We both registered for fall semester the other night and we are going to be taking a couple of classes together. Those of you who know Landon and I well, know that I will probably be signing myself up for double the work. That's OK, I'm excited at the prospect of even seeing him for more than a couple of hours a day. This week was rather uneventful but Sunday the office had a barbeque by the pool. It was really fun to see our friends and meet some new ones! Alot of the reps I know from last year but there are quite a few I have never met.

This is some of the group. There are about 25 salesmen, 2 "saleswomen", 5 wives and and a couple of dogs.

This is Landon with our friend Jordan. Landon has an honest to goodness crush on him I think. He lived with Jordan before I came to Texas and he always tells me that Jordan is "one of his top five favorite guys," and cites his time living there as "the best time of his life." Geez... should I take offense to that?!

These are a few of the other married people out here. Our friends Lacee and Devin, and Allan and Amber. I am holding Amber's baby, Evey. She is such a cute little girl. My favorite thing about Texas in comparison to Vegas is the trees and grass. I know that sounds strange but in Vegas I would start to get depressed after awhile without any green, springy looking business around. My least favorite thing about Texas so far are the ants! They come in armies prepared to fight. I find them everywhere. One night we came home from Wal Mart and saw a big herd of them marching around on the carpet. Landon went out and bought a can of "Raid" and proceeded to spray every square inch of the apartment. What's worse... live ants all over or an ant cemetery with their little corpses everywhere? I wish I had a good answer for that! On a brighter note, I am getting much better at finding my way around. I am not so scared to leave by myself anymore. As always, we miss everyone! ...ChE's FaVoRiTe ThInGs!...

Now don't get too excited... this is not going to be nearly as cool as "Oprah's Favorite Things" and no one is going home with everything you see here! However...I have noticed that being in the same apartment, eating the same breakfast, wearing the same outfit and doing pretty much the same thing day after day truly leads you to feel a slight attachment to the little things in your life. So I thought I would share them with you all! (Everyone cheers...) Here are my favoritest things as of late:

Misting sunscreen: The brilliance is truly overwhelming with this product. No longer must we hassle with the thick, white goop we have come to rely on for sun protection. Oh no.. this sunscreen comes in the form of a lightweight mist. And... It actually smells good! I know, I know, you are a skeptic. But I swear this little bottle has come to be somewhat of a friend for me in this Texas heat. I recommend everyone rush to your nearest Wal*Mart and grab one up. In fact... grab two. I am that confident.

Landon:Now he's not for sale unfortunately and not everyone gets one. But, somehow I managed to scoop up the last Landon Fullmer. Lucky...Landon is on the list of favorite things because he's pretty much the only thing keeping me sane out here. I literally count the minutes until he will be home. Plus... he's a good kisser. (blush...)

What is that?!That my dear friends and family is my balcony! Now I'm quite ashamed to admit this because in my family furniture on the porch has always been a sign of undeniable white trashness... but since this is the list of favorites, I must admit. I have hauled out the living room chair onto the balcony and I spend a good portion of my day out there. I get better internet reception out there, (Okay fine... out here) which was the original purpose of sitting here but soon it evolved into an out of control love for the balcony! I love to read and watch the sunset every night out here. I would be willing to wager that I sit here about 4-5 hours a day. And yes... everyone in the parking lot has a perfectly good view of me. I'm like the complex cat lady.

The pool: I have debated long and hard about rather or not to include this one. I have had an astronomically difficult relationship with the pool here. We are more like "frienemies" since this is the scene of the crime. (In reference to my gosh awful sunburn last week) But I just cannot deny the joy that it brings to jump into the cold water. Lately I have been trying to teach Landon how to float. Not so successfully I might add.

Phase 10: At this very point in time I am not sure if I can call Phase 10 a "fun pastime" or a "terribe addiction". Although all evidence is pointing toward the latter. Landon, Chari, Jeremy and I have played this game every single night for a good week or two. Any of you who are very familiar with this game know it's not so much a quick game as a long term commitment. It takes us at least two hours every single time. But that's OK with me... at least I get to talk to someone besides myself. (Which is starting to worry me lately)

Well folks, there you have it! All my current loves. Of course some people and objects have been left out. But don't feel bad. You know who you are! Until next time...

Remember the Alamo?

I do! Sunday after church Landon and I decided we would like to go see some of the sights we keep hearing so much about. Our first stop was the Alamo! The first thing I noticed when I entered the gates was how gorgeous the grounds were. Everything is so green and the landscaping is beautiful. All of the buildings are so old and made of rock. Most of them hold artifacts from the time of the war. It was really interesting to read about the events leading up to the fight and the things that have been accomplished afterward. Neither of us knew much about the Alamo though, I feel that the tour could have been way more informative if I had gone there with some idea about what went on. To be honest, I was way more interested in just being with landon anyway. I really do like this job, I love traveling to a new place every summer and seeing new things. But the schedule is vigorous and we really don't get to spend much time together.

We did not stay there for very long because it was so hot! Landon handles heat much better than I do. (Which is good because he has to be in it all day) He was a trooper but I had to keep sitting down to rest and wipe the sweat off my forehead.

When we had walked through all the buildings at the Alamo we made our way over to the riverwalk. I have heard alot about the riverwalk and was not quite sure what to expect but it's a really cool little place. It's below the city and it is just this long stretch of restaurants and shops on the side of the river.

We had originally planned on having dinner here, but we were not hungry enough and we were both sweating like crazy so instead we decided to go home and get in the pool for relief!

We love and miss you all! Being here has really made us appreciate our families and friends. Until next time...

So, I've never done one of these but since I was tagged (thanks, Toni) and I seriously have nothing better to do... I thought I would humor myself.

RANDOM SURPRISING FACTS:
1. I am secretly a huge Eminem fan. I cannot believe that I just admitted that. I always tell Landon that I am "in the closet." I know almost every word to his songs (which is sometimes very unfortunate for my soul)
2. I wet the bed until I was like 10. Again with the confessions. I need to stop.
3. I don't know how to whistle. I have tried to learn so many times but I really cannot figure it out. If any of you have some good tutoring tips on this... let me know!

Ok! That was actually kind of fun. I TAG...Lacee, Cortney, Tedi and ShaLayne! By the way... made it to San Antonio safetly. It's good to be with Landon again but I am having a terrible time finding my way around this joint. Also... I layed by the pool for 4 hours today. You could fry an egg on my back. Stupid girl I am.
